QUALIFICATION LEVELS

     
All candidates interested in becoming qualified ballet teachers, who are aware of the importance of professional development, and who meet the prerequisites listed below, are welcome to pursue their journey with Cecchetti Canada. 
 
Cecchetti Canada offers the following qualification levels in the Cecchetti Method:

• Pre-Qualifying (temporary)
• Associate (provisional and permanent)
• Associate Diploma
• Licentiate Assessment (optional)
• Licentiate
• Fellowship Assessment (mandatory)
• Fellowship
• Fast-Track for Professional Dancers

NEW! Pre-Qualifying, temporary membership option
Who is it for?

• Individuals who are committed to professional development in dance education and interested in working toward their Cecchetti Canada teaching credentials
• Candidates who have been awarded the required Advanced 1 Cecchetti Examination certificate and wish to progress towards their Associate Teaching qualification

 
Benefits of becoming a Pre-Qualifying Member

• Pay the reduced membership rate of $100 per year
  (prorated for applications before January 31^st).
• Receive a free electronic copy of the Associate Examination Course Outline.
• Purchase music, syllabi and Related Subjects Course Book at the Member rate. 
• Access Member rates for workshops, training sessions, webinars, etc.
• Receive the assistance of Cecchetti Canada in pairing you with experienced and certified coaches and mentors to guide you through your qualification process.
   

Pre-Qualifying Membership Duration
The Pre-Qualifying, temporary membership category is available for a maximum of 5 years (including the optional 2-year student exam sponsorship), allowing ample time to complete your studies and schedule your Associate examination.
 
Process

• Visit the Cecchetti Canada website and fill out the Membership form (M-310)
• Submit the form with your payment to Cecchetti Canada Sales and Membership
• Receive guidance from the Chair of Cecchetti Canada, who will provide further information regarding mentorship
• Receive a free electronic copy of the Associate Examination Course Outline
• Purchase music, syllabi and the Related Subjects 1 Course Book at the Member’s rate
• Attend Cecchetti Canada workshops and conferences with a focus on Grades and Intermediate syllabi, also at the Member’s rate
• Follow the Associate Examination Course Outline and apply for your Associate examination within 5 years

Associate qualification

The Associate qualification grants entry-level, provisional membership with Cecchetti Canada and is meant to last a maximum of 5 years. Associate members are encouraged to present students in the approved examination levels while preparing for their own Associate Diploma qualification. 
 
After 5 years, an Associate member may apply to remain a Permanent Associate member of Cecchetti Canada (CC) rather than upgrading to the Associate Diploma qualification. For more information on this option, see the Permanent Associate section of the Qualifying Examinations Course Outlines.
 
Prerequisites for the Associate qualification:

• Minimum 18 years of age
• CC Advanced 1 examination awarded
• Completion of the Related Subjects 1 course and examination
• At least 30 hours of experience in assisting or teaching pre-ballet and ballet classes
• Mentored and entered by a CC Licentiate or Fellow member

 
Upon completion of the Associate examination, successful candidates:

• Obtain provisional membership as an Associate member of Cecchetti Canada
• May use the signature “Associate CC-CICB” and the members’ seal, as long as membership dues are kept up-to-date
• May present students in the following Cecchetti Canada examinations and corresponding presentation classes: Primary, Standard 1 to 6, Senior Certificate, Grade 1 to 6 and Intermediate

 

Associate Diploma qualification

Prerequisites for the Associate Diploma qualification:

• CC Associate qualification awarded
• Completion of the Related Subjects 2 course and examination
• Completion of 3 years teaching the Cecchetti Method
• Results of a minimum of 8 hours of examinations
• Mentored and entered by a CC Licentiate or Fellow member

 
Upon completion of the Associate Diploma examination, successful candidates:

• Obtain full membership as an Associate Diploma member of Cecchetti Canada
• May use the signature “Associate Diploma CC-CICB” and the members’ seal, as long as membership dues are kept up-to-date
• May present students in all Cecchetti Canada examinations up to and including Advanced 1

 

Licentiate qualification

Prerequisites for the Licentiate qualification:

• CC Advanced 2 examination awarded
• CC Associate Diploma qualification awarded
• Completion of 5 years teaching the Cecchetti Method, with experience teaching the Advanced 1 level
• Results of a minimum of 12 hours of examinations after achieving the Associate Diploma qualification

 
Upon completion of the Licentiate examination, successful candidates:

• Are registered as a Licentiate member
• May use the signature “Licentiate CC-CICB” and the members’ seal, as long as membership dues are kept up-to-date
• May present students in all Cecchetti Canada examinations up to and including Advanced 2, Associate and Associate Diploma
• Are eligible for nomination to the Cecchetti Canada Board of Directors

 

Fellowship qualification

Prerequisites for the Fellowship qualification:

• CC Licentiate qualification awarded
• Mandatory completion of the CC Fellowship Assessment and essay or project
• Knowledge of the CC Diploma work
• Completion of 8 years teaching the Cecchetti Method
• Results of a minimum of 18 hours of examinations, including Majors, entered after achieving the Licentiate qualification

 
Upon completion of the Fellowship examination, successful candidates:

• Are registered as a Fellow member
• May use the signature “Fellow CC-CICB” and the members’ seal, as long as membership dues are kept up-to-date
• May present students in all Cecchetti Canada examinations up to and including Advanced 2, Associate and Associate Diploma
• May present candidates in the MEC final Diploma if this qualification has been achieved personally
• Are eligible to apply as a Cecchetti Canada Examiner

 

Other categories 

As listed above, Cecchetti Canada also offers a Fast-tracking option for Professional Dancers who wish to acquire their teaching credentials, as well as Licentiate and Fellowship Assessment levels.
